Liestya Kusumawardhani, director of pattern of nature conservation information at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, received the aid in Bogor, Sunday, witnessed by Director of TSI Frans Manansang and President of the Gunma Safari Park Kunihiko Takahashi.
As a megabiodiverse country, Indonesia has great ecosystem diversity and is a habitat for abundant flora and fauna.
While praising the Gunma Safari Park for its assistance to Indonesia to conserve its wildlife, Kusumawardhani stated that the grant will be particularly beneficial to protect Sumatran elephants in their natural habitat.
The sister park cooperation between TSI and Gunma Safari Park was started in 2000, initiated by the Indonesian ambassador in Tokyo.
TSI Director Frans Manansang expressed hope that the cooperation would continue in the best interests of wildlife conservation in Indonesia. (WDY)
