Turtle Conservation Center Releases Hundreds Of Hatchlings

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The Turtle Conservation and Education Center (TCEC) located in Serangan, Denpasar, Bali, released 850 hatchlings on the Serangan Beach, Bali, in an effort to preserve the animal species, which are protected under law.

"We have released 850 hatchlings and two green turtles to their habitats," Wayan Geriya, the manager of TCEC, stated here on Wednesday.

He revealed that the hatchlings were bred under captivity in TCEC.

Earlier, the turtle eggs were collected from several areas in the vicinity of Serangan, Gianyar, and Klungkung beaches.

"There are some eggs bred in captivity that were given by the fishermen who care about the environment, especially the turtle habitats," Geriya noted.

The TCEC has expressed appreciation to the fishermen and communities for their efforts in caring for the environment by handing over the turtle eggs found along the coastline to the center.

According to him, the Balinese communities really care about the turtles. All sides including the administration, private bodies, and the public are working in tandem to preserve the animal species.

"The hatchlings are released on several beaches in Bali," Geriya stated, adding that this activity has become a special program for some organizations and communities. (WDY)
