Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- President Joko Widodo has urged law enforcement agencies to step up coordination to combat corruption in the country.
Jokowi is of the opinion that fighting corruption is a crucial step which may have positive impacts on various sectors, including the national economy, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Andrinov Chaniago told the press at the Presidential Office here on Friday evening.
"The president has issued Presidential Instruction Number 7, 2015, on preventing corruption. There are 96 action plans (to combat corruption), information that we need to disseminate among ministries/government institutions and regional governments," he stated.
Chaniago added that the ministries/government institutions will have to submit reports on whichever programs they implemented this year.
"They have to submit the report online between June 28 and July 5," the minister pointed out.
The president has given directives to strengthen cooperation and coordination among law enforcement agencies and to simplify the bureaucratic system, to ensure that they achieve the goals of their programs posthaste. One of the targets is to improve the economic system, he emphasized.
Five ministers, the attorney general, the national police chief and the acting chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) attended the meeting.(WDY)
