Berau, E.Kalimantan (Antara Bali) - The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Indonesia Program targets 6,000 villages in Indonesia to carry out the Community Inspiring Action program in the Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (SIGAP - REDD+) 2020.
"These 6,000 villages probably only ten percent of the total number of villages in Indonesia," the senior manager of the TNC Indonesia Program of Berau, Saipul Rahman, said here Monday.
SIGAP-REDD+ program has been carried out in two model villages in Long Duhung and Merabu.
According to him, the environmental non-governmental organization is not working alone but coordinates with Agency for Community Empowerment and Governance Village (BPMPK) of Berau.
"After Berau we will continue the program in East Kutai district, and finally to the national level," Saipul said.
Earlier, the Forest Management Unit Specialist TNC Indonesia Program, Faisal Kairupan, said that 12 villages in Berau district has carried out the program.
SIGAP-REDD+ is developed to encourage the sustainable and integrated rural development formulation in terms of social, environment, and economy. (WDY)
