Gorontalo (Antara Bali) - Heavy rain triggered flooding in the sub-district of Tibawa of Gorontalo province, on Thursday night.
The river of Molowahu overflowed its banks sending swelling water to the village of Molowahu, Abdullah Yahya, head of the regional office of the Disaster Control Agency (BPBD) said on Friday.
Yahya said the strong current broke a dyke and at least 21 units of houses were swept away forcing 35 families of 109 people to evacuate from the village.
There was no human casualty but 80 hectares of rice ready for harvest were damaged in the village submerged under 1 meter deep of water, he added. (*/M038)
