Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia is committed to facilitating access to justice for women and promoting gender equality, according to a minister.
"The Indonesian government continues to implement and promote gender equality between women and men," said Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar, the Minister of Women Empowerment and Children Protection, here on Thursday.
"Indonesia has regulations on human rights and their implementation, legislation against domestic violence, trafficking laws, as well as special units in the police departments and hospitals to assist the victims of violence against women and children," she added.
Indonesia also encourages the strengthening of international and regional cooperation in improving women¿s access to justice.
"Indonesia continues to support a gender-sensitive legal system," she noted, adding that it was in line with the commitment made by six nations - Bangladesh, Denmark, Maldives, the United States, Indonesia and Slovakia - during a meeting held at the United Nations headquarters recently.(*/DWA/IGT)
