Denpasar (Antara Bali) - At least 28,659 Japanese tourists visited Bali in January and February 2012, a decrease of 18.04 percent from 34,968 during the same period last year.
"Most of the Japanese tourists came to Bali via direct flights from their country, and only 255 arrived on cruise ships," Head of the Bali Office of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Gede Suarsa, said here on Thursday.
Further, in 2011, 182,385 Japanese tourists visited Bali, down 25.62 percent from 245,212 in 2010.
He said the decline in the number of Japanese tourists visiting Bali is related to the economic conditions in Japan following the tsunami that hit the country in 2011.
"Japan is still in the third position of the top ten sources of foreign tourists visiting Bali, after Australia and China," he added.(IGT)
