Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian delegation has met officials of the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development on Wednesday (June 29) in Amman to discuss various policies on women protection and empowerment.
According to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, received by Antara here on Thursday, the Indonesian delegation comprised Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Teguh Wardoyo, Deputy for Protection of Women Rights at the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection Prof. Vennetia Rykerens Danes, and the ministry's officials.
The meeting specifically addressed the issue of handling and preventing human trafficking crimes and protecting women from domestic violence.
This visit is an effort to gain insights into the best practices regarding the handling of issues related to human trafficking and domestic violence.
The Jordanian government has set up a special unit to solve such issues under the coordination of the Ministry of Social Development.
Jordanian Minister of Social Development Halwa Al Armouty explained that the government was serious about handling cases of domestic violence and human trafficking experienced by Jordanians, foreigners, and also refugees from war-torn countries, such as Syria, Iraq, and Palestine, coming to Jordan.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has established a National Task Force for Human Trafficking prevention and handling under the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture comprising 19 representatives of relevant ministries and institutions.
Ambassador Wardoyo hoped the visit will be helpful in improving bilateral relations between Indonesia and Jordan. (WDY)
