Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian scholars as alumni of Sudanese
universities have expressed their support here on Sunday in improving
bilateral relations particularly in the field of education.
The Sudanese alumni unveiled their statement here on Sunday before
the countrys ambassador to Indonesia Abd Alrahim Alsiddig at a gathering
in the envoys resident in Jakarta.
Ambassador Abd Alrahim told Antara that his country last year
provided 200 scholarships to Indonesian students to study at master and
doctorate degrees.
"We have long awaited and welcomed this gathering," said DR. Tulus
Musthofa Lc MA, one of the the alumni, adding that a great number of
Indonesian students continue their studies in Sudan.
Tulus further praised the Sudanese policy that provides scholarships to students, especially from Indonesia.
"We also seek additional scholarships to Sudanese students to study
in Indonesia and increase their number in the coming years," he pointed
out.
So far Indonesia provided about 20 scholarships to Sudanese students to learn at the level of S2 and S3.
The Indonesian students in Sudan among others learned Arabic, the
Quran and sharia interpretation in well-known universities in the Sudan.
