Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Four
patients have died of dengue fever since January 2016 in the Indonesian
island resort of Bali since January 2016, according to local Health
Office spokesman Dr Gede Wira Sunetra.
"The four dengue patients died because of late treatment at the
local community health centers or hospitals," Sunetra remarked here
Saturday.
The four fatalities were among 910 cases of dengue fever which
were spread over nine districts/cities in the province of Bali, he
pointed out.
The highest dengue outbreak occurred in Buleleng district with 262
cases, followed by Gianyar district with 245 cases, Tabanan district
with 104, Karangasem with 95, and Badung with 92, in addition to
Jembrana which had 56, Bangli with 23, Denpasar with 19, and Klungkung
with 14 cases, Sunetra said.
And the four deaths due to dengue, each occurred in Buleleng, Gianyar, Jembrana and Denpasar.
The current seasonal change from dry to rainy season has led to a
spike in the number of dengue fever cases in several regions across the
country.
In Balikpapan city, East Kalimantan, it was reported Friday that
five patients have died of dengue fever since January this year.
"Three of the dengue patients died in January, while two others
died in February, and most of them were children," local Health Office
spokesperson Balerina remarked in Balikpapan Friday.
The number of dengue cases in Balikpapan since January this year has reached 193, with five fatalities, she revealed.
Eleven people had died of dengue fever since January, Achmad
Rudiansjah, chief of the local Health Service Office, remarked in
Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan last week.
Kotabaru District reported the maximum number of three victims who
had succumbed to dengue fever spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, he
revealed.
One victim each had died in the districts of Banjar, Barito Kuala,
Talah Laut, and Tanah Bumbu, apart from Tapin, Hulu Sungai Utara, Hulu
Sungai Tengah, and Hulu Sungai Selatan. (WDY)
