Jakarta (Antara Bali)- Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Yembise said she had officiated a task force for the protection of women and children to help stem the rise in violence against women and children.
"The task force will operate up to the rural level to deal with the increase in violence against women and children," Minister Yembise said here, Sunday.
The task force was, in fact, officially launched during the closing ceremony of the national coordinating meeting on the development of women's empowerment and child protection held in Jayapura in Papua Province, recently.
"The establishment of the task force for the protection of women and children is initiated by the women's empowerment and child protection ministry," she remarked.
The task force will also carry out a public campaign called "He for She" to encourage men to care for women, she added.
"He for She" is a global campaign launched by the UN on the eve of International Women's Day in 2014, urging men to stand up for the rights of their mothers, sisters and daughters.
Top UN officials stressed that human rights for girls and women are not a dream but a duty of all.
The campaign also tried to galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for gender equality. (WDY)
