Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The value of Bali's coffee and dried vanilla exports in the January - July 2010 period increased 24 percent to US$592.6 thousand from US$476 thousand in the same period in the previous year, a regional trade official said.
"The value of Bali's coffee and dried vanilla exports increased due to the increase in the price of vanilla in the export market," Chief of the exports section of Bali's Trade and Industry Service, Putu Bagiada said here on Thursday.
He said that the price of dried vanilla in the export market was US$15.2 per kg in 2009 but it rose to US$16.6 in 2010. "This has encouraged exporters to increase their vanilla exports," he added.
He said that Bali's vanilla exports in the first seven months of 2010 stood at 31.8 tons, worth US$530.3 thousands. The value increased 44 percent compared to the value in 2009 which stood at US$367 thousands with a volume of 24 tons.(*)
