Makassar (Antara Bali) - Former vice president Jusuf Kalla said he would run for president in 2014 if people wanted him to.
"Actually I have no ambition for it but if people want him to I am ready to be a candidate," he said after speaking at a seminar and national leadership meeting of the Association of Indonesian Catholic Scholars (ISKA) here on Saturday.
He said a head of state needs full support from the people in order to be able to fulfill the hopes of the people.
He said when people elect a president they also have hopes that the president elect later must fulfill and this is the responsibility that a president-elect must take.
"This is where a head of state must base his leadership on," Jusuf Kalla who is popularly called by his initials JK said. (*/T007)
