Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday opened the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) which took place at Jaya Ancol Dream Land in North Jakarta to consolidate the implementation of the 2015 simultaneous regional head elections.
The president arrived at the venue of Rakornas at 9.09 am West Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) to open the event, according to Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo.
"Participants from all regions across the country are now present to attend the National Coordination Meeting," the minister said, adding that the meeting was also attended by governors, and the leaders of General Election Commission (KPU) and the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).
Also present at the meeting were among others Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Culture and Human Development Puan Maharani, and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Chief Sutyoso.
Minister Tjahjo Kumolo reiterated that the meeting was to consolidate the simultaneous regional head election this year to democratically elect regional heads and deputy regional heads.
Besides opening the Rakornas, President Jokowi is also scheduled to received Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Tumbull at the Merdeka Palace at noon on Thursday.
After that, the head of state will receive the managing board of the Association of Indonesian Provincial Governments at 3.30 pm, and then to receive a delegation of US-ASEAN Business Council at the State Palace. (WDY)
