Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia will be hosting an international-class kart prix championship titled Indonesia Kart Prix 2012 for two days, January 28-29, at the Sentul Circuit, Bogor, West Java.
The championship would be participated in by several world champion racers such as Sami Luka (Belgium), Esteban Occon (France), Antonio Giovianzzi (Italy), Stefano Cucco (Italy), and Nicolaj Meller (Denmark).
Sami Luka, who was a Europe Champion 2011, said he was excited to be invited to the event as it was the first time for him to race in Indonesia.
"This will be my first comeetition experience here and will enjoy it," he said here Wednesday.
The 22-year-old racer said he had prepared everything he needed to join the competition. He said, out of all the other racers, he considered Sean Gelael of Indonesia his most formdiable rival.
"Sean is talented and very fast, but I am optimistic that I can win. I came here to win," Sami said.
Meanwhile, some of the foreign racers said they had noticed some weaknesses in the condition of the race track.
Alfredo Gagliardi said the asphalt surface of the race track was not so good although he was prepared for the weaknesses.
"The condition of track's surface will wear out my tires very fast but the track at the bends are good," he said.
Meanwhile, Indonesian champion Sean Gelael said he would do his best to win. "As a racer of the host country , I must win," he said, adding he expected the strongest competition to come from Sami Luka.
The Kart Prix 2012 Championship will consist of races in the of KF2, Rotax and Junior categories.
Some former Indonesian racers will also take part in the event's veteran class such as Chepot Hanni Wiano, Ricardo Gelael, Beng Soeswanto, Jan Darmadi, and Nanan Soekarna.(T007)
