Indonesia Reaches Five Gold Target
Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia's vovinam team reached its target of five golds after grabbing its fifth gold medal in the 26th Southeast Asian Games' women's defense technique held at Sunter Sports Hall here on Wednesday.
The Anak Agung Eni Kusumawati - I Ketut Sulendra duet recorded the highest score of 281 after they performed their best in front of hundreds of Indonesian supporters in the martial art defense sport.
In this vovinam class, Vietnam and Cambodia appeared to be the twin winners of the silver medals because they scored the same points of 275. Cambodia fielded its athletes Li Boramy - Pal Chhorraksmy while Vietnam fought with its Pham Thi My Dung - Lee Bao Giang duet.
The bronze medal was bagged by Lao duet Khamvilaythong Noudsalin - Sosomesy Anousac with a score of 270.
The Indonesian fifth gold was the last to be won in the vovinam sport branch contested in the SEA Games since Monday, November 14.
In this sports branch, Vietnam came up as the general champion winning five golds, seven silvers and two bronzes, followed by Indonesia with five golds, one silver and eight bronzes.(**)
