Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Denpasar city's Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) here on Thursday said 19 buildings were damaged due to 6.8 earthquake that struck the area earlier at 10.16 AM.
The 19 buildings consist of eight schools, six houses, a monument, a hospital, a museum, Denpasar's Regional Representatives Council office and a firefighters' office.
"Eight buildings are heavily damaged. The worst damage happened to Vocational High School 2 in Denpasar where almost its entire roof collapsed," Chief of Denpasar's BPBD Sudana Satri Graha said here on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Secretary to Denpasar city's administration AAN Rai Iswara said he had asked related government officials to conduct a quick response towards the impact of the earthquake.
"Starting tomorrow, all damaged schools will be repaired," he said adding that the city administration would pay for the medical treatment of victims of the earthquake.(**)
