Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Former Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri attended the opening ceremony of the second day of the 5th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Extraordinary summit meeting at the Jakarta Convention Center Plenary Hall on Monday morning.
The name of Soekarnoputri was mentioned by the master of the ceremony, who said that besides Megawati, former vice presidents Try Sutrisno and Boediono were also present.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened the second day of the summit after greeting the OIC heads of state/government who were about to enter the venue.
"On the second day of the summit, President Jokowi leads the opening ceremony on Monday morning and the closing ceremony in the evening. The president will also receive courtesy calls and hold bilateral meetings," Presidential Communication Team member Ari Dwipayana stated.
He affirmed that the courtesy calls to President Jokowi will be made by the Libyan prime minister, Iranian foreign minister, chairman of the Council of the State of Oman, the Saudi Arabian foreign minister, and the deputy prime minister of Qatar, among others.
Dwipayana noted that the Indonesian head of state will hold bilateral meetings with the presidents of Pakistan and Sudan, and in the evening, the president will chair the continuation of the General Debate and then close the 5th OIC extraordinary summit meeting.
The 5th OIC Summit on March 6-7 is a concrete form of efforts made by the OIC members, including Indonesia, to push for the settlement of the Palestinian conflict.
