Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian company PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk. (Sritex) will set up a garment factory in Cambodia in cooperation with Cambodia¿s Ministry of Home Affairs, according to a press release from the foreign ministry here Saturday.
The signing of the cooperation agreement had been done by the President Director Budi Susanto Soewono of PT Panen Lestari Bersama, which is a subsidiary of PT Sritex, and Director General of Logistics and Finance of the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs, General Mao Bunarin, on February 17, 2016.
The two parties agreed to set up a new company named Sritex (Cambodia) Ltd that will supply and procure Cambodian police uniforms.
Sritex Ltd. has also been assigned to set up a garment company in Cambodia.
The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Pitono Purnomo and officials of the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs.
Ambassador Pitono Purnomo in his speech hailed and expressed his happiness over the agreement made by Sritex and the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs.
The cooperation was a concrete sign of increasing trade and investment between the two countries, he said.
Sritex is one of the best garment producers in Indonesia and has received international reputation, he said.
In view of that he hoped the cooperation would run well as planned.
The cooperation to build a garment factory was actually the follow-up to the talks made by the Indonesian president and the Cambodian prime minister on the sidelines of the Asia-Africa Commemorative Conference in 2015, Pitono said.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo, at a press conference after holding a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, had then expressed hope that the Cambodian government would buy military uniforms and equipment from Indonesia as a follow-up of the training program Indonesia had carried out for around 6,000 military personnel of Cambodia, in the framework of capacity building.
Following the agreement for the establishment of Sritex (Cambodia) Ltd. the Cambodian government expressed its commitment to purchase police uniforms produced by Sritex in Indonesia before the new factory in Cambodia is completed. (WDY)
