Jakarta (Antara Bali) - United Kingdom's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to discuss about the British prime minister's visit to Indonesia in July 2015.
Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi stated that the meeting was largely held to only discuss about the preparations for the British prime minister's visit to Indonesia.
"The meeting was only held to discuss some general matters, which we will follow up when I meet the British envoy next week at the Foreign Affairs Ministry," Retno noted at the Presidential Complex on Friday after accompanying President Jokowi who received Ambassador Moazzam Malik.
At the meeting, Retno stated that the discussions were mainly related to the preparations for the visit including the discussion material on how to improve bilateral relations between the two countries, which will focus on economy, trade, investment, and others.
"I will have the agenda of the meeting. I will speak with the British ambassador in detail," Retno said.
Retno made assurance that during the meeting, no special request was made by Ambassador Malik regarding the British citizen on death row.
Earlier, British citizen Lindsay Standiford was sentenced to death after being arrested at Ngurah Rai Airport in 2012 for carrying 4.8 kilograms of cocaine. (WDY)
