Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Trade Minister Rahmat Gobel said the World Economic Forum (WEF) to be held in Jakarta later this month would offer an opportunity to attract more foreign investment into the country.
"We want to make use of the even to convince world business leaders that Indonesia is a potential place for investment," the minister said after a meeting on the forum preparation here on Tuesday.
He said the WEF, that would be held in Jakarta from 19 to 21 April 2015 , will also be used to promote the vision of the government in front of the foreign delegates.
"They would certainly want to know about the vision of the new government," he said, adding, the government already took a number of bold steps to attract foreign investors such as the adoption of one stop service by the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
He said at the forum he would explain the government program in infrastructure development and other activities to boost the country's economic development. "WEF is a big forum. We must not miss the opportunity to capitalize on it to attract investors," he said.
Meanwhile Minister for the Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya said the WEF is important for Indonesia that the country is strongly committed to preserving the environment. The forum will discuss way of preventing deforestation and promote green investment, Siti said. (WDY)
