Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Two French Air Force's (Armée de l'Air) fighter aircraft "Dessault Rafale" will perform an air demonstration in Indonesia, on March 25, 2015, spokesperson of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Commodore Tjahjanto stated here on Tuesday.
The 4.5th generation aircraft, having two engines with delta wing, is manufactured by Dessault Aviation France. The aircraft arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport on March 24, 2015.
In addition to performing the air demonstration, the Rafale fighter pilots will showcase the aircraft's capabilities to the Indonesian Air Force.
According to Tjahjanto, the two Rafale aircraft arrived from Langkawi Airport in Malaysia after participating in the International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) 2015 biennial air show on March 17-21, 2015.
Lately, French manufacturer Dessault Aviation is heavily promoting its aircraft as a replacement to the Indonesian Air Force combat aircraft, F-5 Tiger.
Dessault Rafale is designed with delta wing and integrated active canard to maximize its maneuverability ranging between +9 g and -3 g and to stabilize the aircraft. The maximum 11 g can be attained in an emergency situation. Canard can reduce the landing speed up to 115 knots. The aircraft can be operated from the runway, which is only 400 meters in length. (WDY)
