Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia is seeking efforts to open new markets to achieve its export target set at US$230 billion this year.
Trade minister Gita Wirjawan said here on Wednesday that it would be difficult for the country to achieve the target if it only relied on traditional markets.
In view of that, he said he would push the country's representatives abroad to be more creative and innovative in their efforts to open new markets such as in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
Indonesian products have not yet reached many countries in the new market regions while on the other hand the government has set a target of increasing exports to the regions by 25 percent, he said at a working meeting with trade attaches and Indonesian Trade Promotion Center officials at his office.
He said he would also ask the country's representatives abroad to introduce Indonesia not only through trade but also its investment potentials and attractive conditions.(IGT)
