Kuta (Antara Bali) - I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has been named the world`s third best airport with passenger capacity of 15-25 million per year in 2016, with service quality scored 4.92 on the scale of 1 to 5.
"Based on the passengers satisfaction rating during 2016, we have managed to improve our service quality from 4.74 in 2015 to 4.92," general manager of the airport Yanus Suprayogi said in an event to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of PT Angkasa Pura I here, Sunday.
The award was the second for the airport granted by the Airport Council International (ACI) that gives out the airport service quality award based on passenger satisfaction ratings in the ASQ Survey, a global survey based on interviews with passengers on the day of travel.
In this survey, Ngurah Rai Airport bested Brisbane Airport in Australia, Wuhan Airport in China, and Kansai Airport in Japan.
The state-run airport operator would improve its services with the implementation of its programs, among others runway asphalt thickening, rapid exit taxiway, provision of flight navigation equipment as well as supporting infrastructure.
"Currently, we are working on overlay runway and this year we will also build rapid exit taxiway to optimize runway usage," Yanus said.
The company would also improve its facilities for travelator, elevator and parking lots. (WDY)
