Kuta (Antaranews Bali) - I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Badung, Bali, again won the world`s best airport for the category of airports serving 15-25 million passengers annually from the Airport Council International (ACI) based in Montreal, Canada.
"The award was given based on a survey of customer satisfaction with airport services," I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Co-General Manager Sigit Herdiyanto stated here, Tuesday.
According to Herdiyanto, Ngurah Rai Airport had been recognized as the 2017 world`s best airport after competing with 340 airports from 85 countries and involved some 600 thousand airport customers.
In addition to bagging the award of the best airport in the world, one of the busiest airports in Indonesia also won two other awards: the second-best airport in the Asia-Pacific for serving above two million passengers per year and the best airport in Asia-Pacific, with a passenger capacity of 15-25 million per year.
The awards were directly received by Sigit Herdiyanto in Halifax, Canada, on Wednesday (Sept. 12) from ACI World Director General Angela Gittens.
Herdiyanto explained that in determining the winner, ACI had applied scientific methodology and assessed strict quality control procedures and conducted airport service quality surveys to measure customer satisfaction.
He added that some of the assessments included the convenience of waiting rooms, service personnel, security, car parking, and environment around the airport.
The ACI also assessed special events held at the airport, such as while commemorating religious holidays or during the holiday season. (WDY)
