Indonesia Condemns Terror Attack In Turkey

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian government has condemned the Saturday terror attack in Kayseri, Turkey, as stated in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official web page in Jakarta, Monday.

The Indonesian government also extended its condolences to the Turkish government and public, as well as the victims' families, at the same time hoping for those injured to recover soon.

The bomb explosion in Kayseri reportedly killed 13 people and injured 48 others.

According to the statement released by the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, there are no Indonesian nationals among the victims of the bombing.

The Ministry and the Embassy in Ankara are still coordinating with Turkish authorities.

Looking at the series of terror attacks in Turkey over the past few months, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Indonesian nationals residing in Turkey to follow the directives released by local security forces and avoid crowded places that could be targeted by terrorists.

On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Kurdish insurgents of being behind the bombing attack on a bus carrying military personnel, which killed 13 soldiers in the city of Kayseri, Central Turkey.

"A separatist terrorist organization is responsible for this act," he said in a statement cited by Xinhua and received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Saturday evening.

Erdogan was referring to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is demanding autonomy for the Kurdish minority group.

The explosion occurred just one week after two bombing incidents, claimed by the PKK outside of the Istanbul soccer stadium, which killed 44 people and injured 100 others.

The Kurdistan Workers Party is labelled a terrorist group by the United States, the European Union and Turkey. (WDY)
