Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Transportation Ministry (Kemenhub) and the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry (KemenPUPR) are working together to boost transport safety and develop infrastructure for the future.
This synergy is being reflected at the Indonesia Transportation and Infrastructure Exhibition, being held for the third time since 2014.
The holding of exhibition was welcomed by Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
The exhibition will reveal to the general public the current safe and comfortable transport infrastructure and future plans, he said.
This will boost economic growth in line with the vision of PUPR Ministry, he added.
"The PUPR Ministry has an infrastructure development program in place for the period 2015-2019 to support transportation, construct 1,000 kilometers of toll roads and 2,650 kilometers of new arterial roads to improve connectivity and reduce the growth gap between regions," Basuki noted on Wednesday.
The exhibition is one of the efforts of the Transportation Ministry and PUPR Ministry in improving development and connectivity.
Around 70 stakeholders in the field of transport and infrastructure are exhibiting at the event.
Meanwhile, transport safety should not only be supported by the availability of adequate facilities, but also by good transport infrastructure networks and connections, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said.
"The development of the transport sector nationwide emphasizes the service and safety aspects promoted by the Transportation Ministry and PUPR Ministry.
"We hope it can be more focused, effective and efficient and provide security, comfort, safety and law and order on an ongoing basis in the transport sector nationwide," he added. (WDY)
