Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi conveyed a letter of credence to President Truong Tan Sang at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi last Saturday.
Ibnu said he is prepared to cooperate with the government and the people of Vietnam to strengthen relations between the two countries, Indonesian Foreign Ministry's website said on Monday.
He said he will also make efforts to enhance the existing good cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
He said one of the things high on the list of his priorities will be to make efforts to resolve the issue of Indonesia-Vietnam exclusive economic zone borders.
On the occasion, the ambassador also conveyed to the Vietnamese president warm regards from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
President Sang warmly welcomed the Indonesian ambassador and accepted the warm regards from President Jokowi.
President Sang said the people of Vietnam always remember Indonesia's favorable stance in helping the country gain its independence.
He said his government will always support Indonesia in every forum, particularly in ASEAN and at other international events.
Both the countries signed a strategic partnership agreement in 2013, making Vietnam the only strategic partner in ASEAN.
Towards that end, they also signed an action plan for 2014-2018 to achieve the target of enhancing bilateral trade to US$10 billion. (WDY)
