(Antara Bali) - As many as 48 passengers of the LCT Ravelia II, which
sank in Bali Strait on Friday, have been evacuated, but a dozen others
were still missing, police said.
The ill-fated ship, manned by 14 crew members, carried
six-internship vocational school students of SMK Pelayaran Kalipuro,
Banyuwangi, several trucks and pick up cars, in addition to 72
passengers, the coastal police said.
Three out of the 48 passengers were rushed to hospital for
treatment, the police said, adding that the Search and Rescue (SAR) team
continued to search for the missing victims.
The LCT Ravelia II sank near the Ketapang harbor in the waters of
Banyuwangi District, East Java, after allegedly suffering leakage.
In the meantime, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Djoni Widodo of
Jembrana Police Precinct, said his side has deployed a number of coastal
police personnel to help search for the victims. (WDY)
