Jakarta (Antara Bali)- The Indonesian Tourism Affairs Ministry (Kemenpar) will be launching a TV program, named "Wondernesia," on Discovery and TLC channels throughout the Asia-Pacific region from December 10, 2015 to attract foreign tourists.
"The Asia Pacific region, especially China, Japan, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore, are the main markets for Indonesian tourism sector. Last year, tourists from these five countries accounted for 61 percent of the total 9.2 million foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia," the minister said here on Monday.
In an effort to achieve Indonesia's target of receiving 20 million foreign tourists in 2019, the government has been organizing a series of massive and aggressive promotional activities through various international media.
One of the efforts is the launch of Wondernesia, a television program comprising 12 episodes of 23 minutes each, produced by DNAP (Discovery Networks Asia Pacific) in a unique format.
"Our country has a lot of spectacular places and cultures but lacks promotional efforts to showcase the same to the world. Through the TV show Wondernesia, our natural and cultural wealth will be displayed in a creative and appealing fashion for the international community's consumption," he pointed out.
The Wondernesia TV program will be aired from December 2015 till March 2016 in the Asia Pacific region, including China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand, India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.(WDY)
