Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a luncheon for the board of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) at the State Palace on Wednesday.
During a cabinet plenary meeting held before lunch on Wednesday, the president highlighted the need to constantly build communication with business players.
"This week, we will hold a meeting with the board of Kadin and Hipmi along with other business associations," Jokowi remarked.
He noted that the meeting is important to gather inputs and proposals from different parties, especially business associations, for simplifying regulations.
The president emphasized the importance of large-scale deregulation of at least 154 regulations that hamper business and affect the investment climate in the country.
Although he considered Indonesia's economy to be in a much better shape than that in 1998 and 2008, the president felt the need to take anticipatory measures to respond to the global economic slowdown.
On Tuesday, President Jokowi also had lunch with motorcycle, minibus, and taxi drivers at the State Palace. (WDY)
