Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo has urged 462 boy and girl scouts representing Indonesia at the 23th World Scout Jamboree in Japan to portray a good image of the country.

"As envoys, you all can bring a good name to the country and showcase the image of the nation, as you are the face of Indonesia. The spirit of nationhood that we need to build is relevant to the spirit of this year's jamboree," he affirmed here on Friday.

He stated that the participating scouts must be able to do their best, as per the implementation of the given mandate, the head of state noted while seeing off the Indonesian delegation here at the Merdeka Palace.

About 40 thousand scouts representing 105 countries will participate in the World Scout Jamboree to be held in Kirarahama, Yamaguchi, Japan, from July 28 to August 8.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Scout Movement Chairman Adhyaksa Dault affirmed that all Indonesian scouts leaving for Japan should have strong self-confidence and respect for all people.

"The scouts must have strong self-confidence and must respect all, regardless of whether they belong to developed or less developed countries," he emphasized.

Dault also urged the participating scouts coming from 29 provinces to build a wide network.

The provinces of Bengkulu, West Sulawesi, Bali, and Papua did not send any representatives. (WDY)
