Jayapura, Papua (Antara Bali) -- The provincial administrations of Papua and Sandaun, Papua New Guinea, have strengthened cooperation in the socio-cultural field through training in carpentry and cosmetology.
A member of the staff for public affairs of Papua province, Rosina Upessy, said here on Monday that the training saw participation from 20 youths from both countries.
"Of the 20 participants, ten were Papuans and ten, Sandauns," she stated.
Upessy explained that the training was aimed at strengthening cooperation between the governments of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
"Providing training in these skills is expected to have an impact on the social, cultural and economic sectors of the communities in border regions, especially on the younger generation," she pointed out.
According to Upessy, these activities can improve the welfare of communities living in border areas and make them more organized and developed.
Moreover, Consul General of Papua New Guinea to Jayapura Aria noted that providing training in these skills to people of both countries can promote their respective cultures.
"With this training, the people of Papua New Guinea can learn the culture of Indonesia, especially that of Papua," she affirmed. (WDY)
