Jayapura (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said he hopes there would be no violence in Papua after the recent communal conflicts in Enarotali.
"What is most important is such incident must not happen again, as I want to develop Papua," Jokowi said referring to communal conflict that left four people killed in Enarotali, in the regency of Paniai early this month.
Jokowi and the first Lady Iriana Joko Widodo are visiting Papua to attend a national Christmas celebrations held at the Mandala square here.
The president said he did not want to comment on the Enarotali conflict before he had concrete data .
"I want to have concrete data about the conflict. The root cause of the problem must be clear," he said here on Saturday.
Conflicts including conflict between two villages or tribal war are often fatal in Papua.
Also, Papua is still a hot spot in the country with separatists still hiding in the mountain jungle often creating problem to security. (WDY)
