Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri has encouraged the strengthening of national industry in a bid to develop the business and provide a better life for workers.
"I do not support entrepreneurs and workers. I just support the rise and strengthening of national industry," Hanif Dhakiri said in the CEO Gathering on Monday night .
With the strengthening of the national industry, Hanif believed that the business would improve and increase the welfare of workers.
"I am open to receive any aspirations to strengthen the national industry in order to give benefit for businesses and workers," Hanif affirmed.
Hanif noted, one of problems related to the world of business and industry in Indonesia was about wages, but he was ready to accept any aspirations that would be able to strengthen the national industry.
"Our interest is to strengthen national industry, so that the business can grow better and the union can increase productivity," he remarked.
Hanif said he did not want to increase wages without an improvement in the workers' productivity.
"The increasing in the wages should be in line with the enhancement of workers' productivity," he emphasized.
According to Hanif, labor productivity in each sector was different, therefore, a minimum wage should consider the weakest sectors.
