Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The 2013 education curriculum which will be implemented in the middle of this year must be able to prevent the radicalization and intolerance of students, Maarif Institute Executive Director Fajar Riza Ul Haq said here on Sunday.
"If the new curriculum can't stem both of them, this means that the great efforts to strengthen the civic education will not be optimal," he said.
Fajar added that teachers and schools are one of the important factors to determine the effectiveness of the curriculum.
He said the Indonesian education has been under the spotlight due to the rise of student misbehavior, such as brawl, motor gang violence, bullying, drug abuse and free sex.
"The phenomena show us the fragility of our education in nurturing students' morals and behaviors," he said. (*/DWA)
