Yogyakarta (Antara Bali) - Education Minister Mohammad Nuh has said the government will replace the current school curriculum in line with the demands of times that continue to develop in a bid to make students able to compete in the future.
"Times have changed, so the competencies required for the intellectual development of students also must be changed because the challenges they face will not be the same as that of today, so they are expected to be able to compete in the future," the minister said when conducting the public curriculum 2013 test in the Yogyakarta State University on Saturday.
According to him, changing of the curriculum is also conducted in line with the national medium-term of development plan 2010-2014.
In addition, the urgency of the curriculum change is also encouraged as it is a momentum that should be used in regard with the growing number of Indonesian productive human resources.
Quoting data issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics 2011, Nuh noted that the people within the 0-9 years old bracket reached 45.93 million, while people aged 10-19 years reached 43.55 million.
The people in those ages will play roles to become the Indonesian development agents in 2035 who have to be provided from now on, he added. (*/T007)
