Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali bamboo craft export of small enterprises in home industries on 2012 contributed to foreign exchange of Bali at US$12.86 million, or increased by 22.80 percent compared to the previous year which stood at USD10.47 million.
"However, the commodity export volume to the foreign market slumped by 42.58 percent," said Chief of Public Relation in Bali Provincial Administration I Ketut Teneng here on Monday.
According to him, the art bamboo commodity volume on 2011 reached 9.69 million units and decreased to 5.56 million units on 2012.
I Ketut Teneng said, the decline of art craft bamboo export volume showed that the foreign market are pricing the commodity in a higher value.
"The bamboo craft is one of the 17 products from small enterprises and home industries that are successfully marketed to foreign countries," said I Ketut Teneng.
Teneng said the bamboo and rattan combination art products that were successfully distributed to the foreign countries consist of paper container, cone hat, wallet, and several unique art figures.
Apart from exported the commodity to foreign regions, the craftsman also sell the bamboo crafts in several tourism sites which targeted foreign and local tourists who visit Dewata Island.
I Ketut Teneng said the bamboo crafts sales contributed 2.67 percent to the total export value of Bali on 2012 that stood at USD481.83 million.
He added that several countries that become the buyers of bamboo art crafts are consist of United States of America which absorbed 35.77 percent, Hong Kong at 9.82 percent, Australia at 7.81 percent, Japan at 4.53 percent, Germany at 4.36 percent, England at 3.06 percent, and Thailand at 1.17 percent.
"Singapore also being a state of our bamboo crafts export destination which absorbed 0.41 percent. While France contributed at 0.31 percent, Netherlands at 0.96 percent and the rest 31.80 percent sold to other regions," said I Ketut Teneng. (*/DWA)
