Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali earned US$39.129 million from exports in January, 2017 or an increase of 8.12 percent from the same months last year.
"However, the export earning in January fell 5.51 percent from from its export value of US$41.41 million in December, 2016," head of the provincial office of the Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS)Adi Nugroho said here on Thursday.
In 2016, Bali recorded exports valued at US$505.11 million , or a increase of 1.29 percent from the previous year.
Adi Nugroho said products of cottage and craft industries accounted for 72 percent of the export earning.
The main export destinations were the United States, China, Singapore, Japan and Australia.
Meanwhile, imports by Bali dropped 12.72 percent to US$10.41 million in January, 2017 from US$11.93 million in the same month last year.
The imports in January, 2017, however, rose slightly from US$10.21 million in December, 2016.
Bali's imports were dominated by China accounting for 35.45 percent of its total import value . Imports from China include machines, and components of production equipment.
Imports also came from the United States, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong. (WDY)
