Kuta (Antara Bali) - The management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is collaborating with the Airport Councils International (ACI) to improve safety standards, Angkasa Pura I Operations Director Wendo Asrul Rose stated here on Monday (July 18).
"I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport will be the first airport under the management
of Angkasa Pura I whose safety system will be accredited internationally as it meets the International Civil Aviation Organization`s (ICAO`s) standards," he noted.
Wendo earlier remarked that Angkasa Pusa I had established cooperation with ACI to improve the quality of service.
According to Wendo, the ACI will provide assistance to enhance safety at the airport in line with the standards set by ICAO.
For a week, an audit team from ACI will directly check and assess the level of flight safety at the Ngurah Rai airport in terms of operational procedures and implementation.
Several safety factors audited by the ACI include flight safety at the runway, flight signs, flight accident management, firefighting system, and wildlife handling.
Manager of Airport Excellence in Safety of ACI Juan Manuel Manriquez Vinas explained that Ngurah Rai Airport was one of the 57 airports in the world to be audited by the council.
"We will offer recommendation and advice on improving safety at the airport," he affirmed.
The ACI will provide an audit placate to the I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport and will include the airport`s name in ICAO`s list.
"Although the airport has been certified by the regulator here, Angkasa Pura I wants to ensure that the airport meets the high levels of safety standards," Vinas added. (WDY)
