Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - The managers of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, served free snacks and music performance for to prospective passengers who failed to depart because the airport was temporarily closed due to the eruption of of Mount Agung.
"This is just an additional service," General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Yanus Suprayogi stated at the airport on Friday.
Airport managers served snacks in the form of packaged cakes and beverages to prospective domestic passengers who were signing up to use the free bus.
Bali Provincial and Badung Regency Governments and other related institutions deployed 50 buses and will add the number to serve the passengers to Surabaya, Jakarta, from Mengwi Terminal and Padangbai Port.
Meanwhile, musical entertainment brought by one of the bands also appeared in the domestic terminal that sang songs to entertain the prospective passengers who did not leave.
Besides, for international passengers or foreign tourists, the airlines had prepared handling procedures.
"When the airlines checks in, it will bear the burden of lodging. So, if passengers who have not checked-in, the airlines will refund or reschedule," he explained.
As for international passengers who are not informed of the airport`s closure by the airline, he added, it will allow the passengers who are foreign citizens to conduct "check-in".
Meanwhile, the additional services in the form of alternative transportation, free snacks and entertainment given to get the appreciation from prospective passengers.
"The handling is quite good, there are landlines facilities as well and they provide it for free," Garuda prospective passenger of Jakarta destination Hendra Permana Putra remarked.
I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has recorded the number of international and domestic flights for departures and arrivals which affected by airport closure reached 306 schedules with the total number of passengers reached 19,891 people until 01:00 p.m. local time.
Furthermore, Ministry of Tourism has prepared vehicles and free transportation for tourists who want to go out of Bali due to the eruption of Mount Agung occurred which resulted in the closure of Ngurah Rai International Airport.
"Until 11:30 a.m. local time, we have sent four buses to Juanda Airport Surabaya which each bus contains 40 tourists from Bali," Head of Public Communication Bureau of Ministry of Tourism Guntur Sakti revealed here on Friday. (WDY)
