Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The British government has presented tokens of appreciation for three Indonesians best graduates from British universities .
Betty Purwandari, director of information technology of the University of Indonesia; Theresia Alit Widyasari, a young entrepreneur, who founded a clothing company with three brands, and Ahmad Fuadi, the writer of the novel '5 Towers' received the tokens of appreciation from the British government via the British Council in a Education UK Alumni Award 2016 here on Thursday night.
The three represented the best achievement in three different categories - professionalism, entrepreneurship, and social impact, defeating five other finalists.
Betty Purwandari is the best alumni in professionalism. She returned home after finishing his doctorate study in computer science at the Southampton University to work for the University of Indonesia.
Betty succeeded in modernizing information technology service at the University of Indonesia with great impact in academic service , research and public relations at national scale.
Theresia Alit Widyasari, a graduate of the University of Westminster in fashion business management, developed her career in in entrepreneurship.
She succeeded in creating jobs in design, production and marketing of clothing in three brands - Bloop, Endorse and Urbie.
"To be good is not enough . You have to continue studies to be creative," she said.
Meanwhile Ahmad Fuadi, a graduate from the Royal Halloway University in London, distinguished himself through his novel '5 Towers'.
Together with the readers of his novel, Ahmad founded a Tower Community , a non profit organization offering access to education and books for children of poor families.
In London he studied film documentaries that he said contributed to his success in writing his novel '5 Tower', which has entered the market in 400,000 copies and from which film producers have made films. (WDY)
