Medan, North Sumatra (Antara Bali)- North Sumatra saw a deficit of US$119.673 million in its trade with Malaysia in the year ended July 31, 2015.
Over the period North Sumatra's exports to Malaysia stood at US122.083 million, while its imports from the neighboring country reached US$242.476 million, Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Office in North Sumatra Wien Kusdiatmono said here on Saturday.
North Sumatra's imports from Malaysia included mineral raw materials, electrical machines/appliances, fertilizers, foods and drinks, and plastics.
Malaysia is the second largest ASEAN country supplying goods to North Sumatra after Singapore.
The province's imports from Singapore until July 2015 reached US$405.157 million dollars.
"In total, North Sumatra's imports until July 2015 reached US$2.234 billion, down by 24.91 percent from US$2.975 billion in tyhe same period last year.(WDY)
