Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- Indonesia and Timor-Leste have agreed to improve the implementation of the Commission of Truth and Friendship's (KKP) recommendation to enhance relations between the two countries in the spirit of reconciliation.
This recommendation was a result of the seventh senior officials' meeting of the governments of the two nations. It was held in Bali on August 4 and 5, according to a press release received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Friday.
The meeting was co-chaired by Director General of Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hasan Kleib and Director General for the Asia-Pacific Region and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste Jojo Freitas de Câmara, along with members of a delegation of representatives from various ministries/agencies of the two countries.
The heads of both delegations emphasized the importance of boosting the implementation of the KKP's recommendation since the sixth meeting of high-ranking officials of Indonesia and Timor-Leste in 2013. They said it was an important step to strengthen relations between the two countries in the spirit of reconciliation.
During the meeting, the delegations discussed a number of subjects under the four working groups of administrative cooperation, education and socio-cultural affairs, cross-border cooperation and border markets, and cooperation issues related to common interest, according to the press release.
In addition, in their speeches, Ambassador Hasan Kleib and Ambassador Jojo Câmara welcomed the progress made in cooperation between the two nations in various fields, stating that they expect it to be sustained and some neglected aspects to be handled. (WDY)
