Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has dispatched more than 7 hundred teachers to remote regions across Indonesia.
The president dispatched the first batch comprising 789 teachers at the Merdeka Palace yard on Monday.
"This is the first batch which is made up of 789 teachers whom we send today to the remote regions across the country," President Jokowi said, adding that they were the Front-line Teachers (GGD).
Jokowi noted that Indonesia has many remote regions and border areas in more than 17 thousand islands which are in dire need of education and qualified teachers.
"When I went to Dompu, Merauke, Entikong border, and Sebatik island, I found that these remote regions really needs qualified teachers for our children there," Jokowi said.
The president added that after the first batch, the government will see the development and if needed, the second batch and third an so forth of the teachers will be sent again. (WDY)
