Mataram, W.Nusa Tenggara (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Science Institute (LIPI) is building a techno park model in West Nusa Tenggara province, governor of West Nusa Tenggara TGH M Zainul Majdi said here Friday.
"I really appreciate the techno park construction project, since West Nusa Tenggara needs innovation as well as knowledge and technology transfers, especially for our potential sectors," the governor added.
He said he hoped the techno park project might be quickly completed and developed by LIPI to support development programs in the province.
Head of LIPI, Prof Dr. Iskandar Zulkarnain, said the techno park will be a site for training and education for technicians in engineering technologies and other related fields.
"The park will also be a research and development center, including acting as a business incubator," Iskandar said.
Currently, LIPI is developing seven techno parks in several provinces in Indonesia.
The techno park area in West Nusa Tenggara has been built in Banyumulek village, West Lombok district, and Teluk Kodeq in North Lombok district.
"The park in Banyumulek is a combination techno park and science park for bio resources development. This is very good work," Iskandar said. (WDY)
