Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said Indonesia would share its experience in a United Nation's Natural Disaster Mitigation Conference during his visit to Japan on March 12 - 16, 2015.
"Japan will organize a UN conference on natural disaster mitigation. They (Japan) ask Indonesia to share its experience in the conference," Kalla said at his Vice Presidential Office here on Monday.
The Vice President said he would share Indonesia's experience in mitigating the impacts of natural disasters such as earthquakes, mount eruptions, tsunamis and others. He will also submit Indonesia's suggestions regarding mitigation efforts on the impacts of natural disasters.
He said that the UN conference will also formulate a joint international effort in the handling of the impacts of natural disasters.
"It will formulate a better international cooperation when a natural disaster takes place. Indonesia is most experienced and is successful in its efforts such as in the handling of the impacts of the Aceh tsunami," he said.
In the meantime, Vice Presidential Deputy Secretary on Political Affairs Dewi Fortuna Anwar said that Kalla will speak of Indonesia's experience in handling human tragedy. She said that Kalla had experience in safeguarding Indonesian citizens near Sendai, Japan, when an earthquake and tsunami took place in March 2011. (WDY)
