Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Governor of Jakarta Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, hosted a meeting with governors and mayors of capital cities in ASEAN to discuss the implementation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015.
"Capital cities in ASEAN must be prepared for the AEC. We need to cooperate and learn from each other. This way, when trade and flow of goods and people in ASEAN increase, there will be no friction or problems between us," he said.
He explained that in the last two days, all the attendees had shared ideas and best practices prevalent in their provinces or cities. There was also an informal discussion to establish a joint tourist destination package.
Jokowi added that he is keen to learn more about Singapore's transportation management and Bangkok's way of handling traffic jams.
