Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Army Chief of Staff Gen. Pramono Edhie Wibowo has set up a team of investigators in reaction to alleged involvement of Army soldiers in a brutal attack on Cebongan prison in Sleman district that left four people dead.
"The preliminary result of investigation indicates the role of irresponsible Army soldiers from Central Java (in the attack)," he told a press conference here on Friday.
The nine-member investigating team which was formed on Wednesday (March 27) is led by deputy commander of the Army's military police center Brig. Gen. Unggul K, he said.
He said the team is made up of representatives from the regional military police, the district military command 072/Pamungkas, the Diponegoro regional military command IV, the Army's elite force (Kopassus) and the Army Headquarters.
The team will be assigned to help ensure smooth investigation of the Army soldiers suspected of involvement in the attack, he said.
"I promise to punish whoever is wrong and defend whoever is right. That's my principle," he said. (*/M038/DWA)
