Solo, C Java (Antara Bali) - Bengawan Solo River overflowed its banks inundating tens of houses in Solo city and Karanganyar district, Central Java, on Sunday.
The flood began to inundate the houses early Sunday following heavy rains in the upper reaches of the river in the past few days, Solo Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo said when inspecting a flood-hit area on Sunday.
He said the flood began to recede at 09.30 a.m.
"The number of affected houses this time such as those in Kampung Sewu and Semanggi areas is quite large. However, we have not received a report of casualties," he said.
The flood water also inundated the road in front of the mayor's private residence at Pucangsawit and Ronggo Warsito park at Jurug.
At least 38 houses in Daleman hamlet, Jaten subdistrict, Karanganyar district, were flooded, with the water level reaching 0.5 m to 1 meter deep.(*/DWA)
